Compression socks and maternity belt - it's the latest trend

Well, friends... we're 30 weeks! This is a huge achievement because at this point, the babies are very likely to survive with minimal complications if they were to unexpectedly be born early. They now just get to focus on packing on the lbs so they will be able to control their body temperature and continue with lung development and maturing their digestive tracks.

My Dr. does want me to go to 38 weeks (pending the twins weight) - they are around 3.5 lbs each, which is bigger than normal, and gaining 1/2 a pound each week! I did get the results from my gestational diabetes test and it was negative. So that makes me feel good to know that their weight isn't because of a problem I have, that they really are developing well. I keep telling my IPs that I make big (and really pretty) babies. :) And coincidentally, I lost 2 lbs in as many weeks which i don't think has ever happened to me before. But let me tell you... it's not for a lack of eating! I definitely don't skip desert often either. :)

I've been having some issues with my eyesight. This has been a recent development and is a bit scary because we don't know what's causing it. I'm going to see my eye dr. since my blood pressure is good and normal, they're not sure it's actually to do with the pregnancy yet.

I'm starting to get lots of comments about how big I am. Now that I work from home most days and go into the office 3 days a week, I don't get to see my work family as often so when people see me and it's been a minute and I feel like my belly gets bigger each day.  If I may, you can say "you're really showing now!" or comment about how a pregnant woman is "all baby". Those are cute comments. But please don't tell a pregnant woman how "big" she is. If she says it, that's one thing, but if you haven't seen her in a few days - may not be the best ice breaker! 😆

I'd also like to take this moment to remind everyone that I did apologize a couple blogs back for any crabbiness I display.

Carrying twins is still very different. In fact, I think i was still somewhat comfortable with my singletons at 30 weeks where now I'm very uncomfortable all the time. My ribs or diaphragm hurt all day every day. I swell if i don't wear compression socks every day. These things are a GOD-SEND and my new best friends. As part of my daily wardrobe, I always have on compression socks and my maternity belt. The belt does help keep my pelvis in place and tries to take some of the weight off the front of my body. And if i don't put the compression socks on right after I wake up, I will be swollen within the hour. It's CRAZY.

Work is also preparing for when I will be out. I guess it's a good thing we're starting now as we just cant predict the future on what will happen.

Other symptoms?:
  • My body itches constantly all day every day - all over and body butter has been another new best friend
  • Indigestion is killer. Taking Zantac daily
  • I'm so tired - not sleeping well at all so I'm really tired thru the day
  • It takes a mountainous effort to do anything - including standing up or sitting down
  • Babies move in my belly constantly, you can start to see my belly roll now when they're moving
  • Pregnancy brain is a real thing and I have it
  • Restless leg syndrome... it's from the devil, I can hardly sit still thru the day
  • It's hard to breathe for sure, I'm constantly out of breath
  • God bless anyone who makes a meal for me...
  • I run out of energy fast and standing in one place is really hard, even getting ready in the morning is difficult
  • On the flip side, my hair has never looked better! So long and so much volume. I do wish I could keep this hair forever
  • I'm very clumsy, I mean - I'm clumsy anyways, but even more so of course now when my center of gravity is off. It can be quite embarrassing
  • There's lots of things that happen to pregnant woman that I will not share with you, only because it's super gross and I want you to continue to read my blog in the future... that being said, just be ready for anything.
So friends, in other news, I am in the process of buying a house!! This has been a long time coming and something I really look forward to after I have the twins. I know it will keep me very busy once I have them and recover.

I hope you all are getting along well in the new year!
