a world of change

Hi Friends!

I know it has been WAY TOO LONG since I've updated you. I did exactly what I needed to do over the Holidays and that was rest and spend time with those I love. This was the first year I did not see my family in Texas. I do miss them so much, but it just wasn't safe for me to travel down there and due to the hurricane recovery, my family wasn't able to come up this way as they're still trying to finish getting their houses back together and find their new normal. But you can bet your rears I rested, napped, played with the kids, spent time with My Favorite and even was able to have a Christmas dinner and spend quality time with my IPs!

Well, when I went back to work last week, I started having contractions and started swelling pretty bad. There are days when I am on my feet a lot and super active and then days where I'm sitting a lot and neither of these things are good for controlling swelling and keeping contractions at bay. We had my 28 week appointment scheduled for Monday but I would up going into the dr's office on Friday to get checked out because the contractions were so strong on Thursday. The babies are doing great tho. My blood pressure is still good. But my Dr put me on a modified work schedule. I am now working from home primarily and going into the office M/W/F mornings.

On Monday though, we went back to the Dr. for my big 28 week appointment! The IPs got to see their babies again in a 3D ultrasound! It was really exciting!!! Baby girl was sitting pretty and doing a great job of showing us how beautiful she is!! She gave us some great pics! And baby boy is a bit more shy. He is "twin A" since he's lowest in my belly. He is harder to get a good pic of and has consistently hidden more from us than she has. I tell the IPs we know who's going to be the ham in the family!!!
HAHA!!! All in all though, they did a great job for their parents and we got to see some remarkable images. We also discovered that each of the babies weighs about 2 1/2 lbs! Can you believe that!!!??? We got over 5 lbs of baby in this belly... I am swelling pretty good now so I've purchased some compression socks to help control how much I swell and it's made a world of difference.

I also had to do my diabetes test on Monday. I have to say, that terrible sugar drink does get better each time I have to drink it. I was able to drink this rather well, which, has not always been then case. But I'm hopeful all will be well with that.

So, what's going on with the pregnancy right now you ask? Lemme tell ya!

  • I've had a head cold that won't quit. Its gotten better, but it's annoying to have all this flem UGH
  • Legs swell every day unless I wear compression socks - where were these when I was pregnant with my girls!!??
  • I'm starting to retain water over my body. I can tell I'm holding fluid in my back and of course in my legs and hands. Bummer, but expected
  • Working from home mostly now
  • Bending over is IMPOSSIBLE. My belly is so big, I just can't do it
  • I drink water incessantly
  • I don't know what I'd do without body butter from The Body Shop - it's been my best friend!
  • I'm shopping for a breast pump so please send me your recommendations for your favorite!
  • My mood is night and day different when I'm working from home - positively, thank God for this. I'm sure my boyfriend and girls want to thank my Dr for making me do that
  • Babies move all of the time - My belly is constantly rolling around now
  • My poor family... I am hardly able to stand up and cook a meal, so thank God for meals that last!! If you'd like to cook for us, let me know. I'm accepting help in all areas now
  • I'm having contractions every day right now, Braxton-Hicks, which are expected with twins, but scary for me because I've never had them this frequently in my previous pregnancies
For right now, I'm still working and doing what I can to make a difference in the lives of St. Jude babies and I'm trying to keep up with my girls and all they have going on, they are constantly busy!

Stay tuned for more updates. I promise i'll try to post more frequently and with more humor. :)

Have a great week everyone! With love - from our family to yours!
